10 Advertising Jingles That Still Live Rent-Free in My Head (and Probably Yours Too)
🎶 Top 10 Advertising Jingles That Live Rent-Free in My Head
The other day I was driving around running errands, and I passed a Burger King. The first thing that popped into my head? That classic line: 🎵 BK.. Have it your way 🎵
And just like that, I was humming it before I even hit the next red light.
That’s when it hit me, there are certain people in advertising who are straight-up geniuses. I have a multitude of jingles from old TV and radio ads that will live permanently in my head, no matter how much I wish I could clear them out to free up some brain space.
There’s no particular order here, I’m just plucking them straight out of my data banks. Let’s go.
1. The Big Mac Song (McDonald’s)
🎵 Two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun. 🎵
No shocker that this one’s first. Everyone who knows me knows I’m a huge McDonald’s fan, and this jingle is practically part of my DNA. I can’t even think of a Big Mac without this song firing up in my brain. Every few months, when it’s time for that Big Mac fix, the jingle comes right along for the ride.
2. “Like a Good Neighbor, State Farm Is There”
🎵 Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there. 🎵
Before Barry Manilow was filling arenas, he was writing jingles. This one’s easily one of the most famous. The wild part? He reportedly didn’t get royalties for it. Imagine if he got even a penny every time this played since it first hit the airwaves in 1971. He’d probably own an island by now.
3. Roto-Rooter
🎵 Call Roto-Rooter, that’s the name, and away go troubles down the drain. 🎵
This one is pure simplicity and genius. It’s so direct and catchy that it actually makes plumbing sound cheerful. Something so cheery.. for something so disgusting. Whoever wrote it deserves a lifetime of free drain cleanings.
4. Easy, Breezy, Beautiful — CoverGirl
🎵 Easy, breezy, beautiful… CoverGirl. 🎵
I get absolutely no joy knowing this one’s taking up space in my head, but there it is. It’ll pop up out of nowhere sometimes, and I’m immediately annoyed and impressed at the same time.
5. Oscar Mayer Wiener Song
🎵 Oh, I wish I were an Oscar Mayer Wiener, that is what I truly wish to be. 🎵
This one’s been around forever, and somehow manages to be both wholesome and slightly ridiculous. I can still picture the commercials from the ’70s and ’80s with kids singing it on picnic blankets.
6. Kit Kat “Break” Song
🎵 Give me a break, give me a break, break me off a piece of that Kit Kat bar. 🎵
If there’s a more contagious candy jingle in history, I haven’t found it. Everyone knows it, everyone hums it, and it’s impossible to stop once you start.
7. Folgers Coffee
🎵 The best part of waking up is Folgers in your cup. 🎵
There’s something comforting about this one. Even if you weren’t a coffee drinker, you knew that line. It’s basically the national anthem of early mornings.
8. Meow Mix
🎵 Meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow… 🎵
This one’s ridiculous in the best way. It’s literally just cats meowing, but it’s so effective that I could probably still sing it note-for-note today.
9. Alka-Seltzer
🎵 Plop, plop, fizz, fizz, oh what a relief it is. 🎵
There’s something so cheerful about this one considering it’s about heartburn relief. The jingle alone almost made the product seem fun.
10. Band-Aid Song
🎵 I am stuck on Band-Aid brand, ‘cause Band-Aid’s stuck on me. 🎵
Catchy, wholesome, and sung by kids in every version I can remember. It’s the perfect closer, the kind of jingle that burrows in your brain and refuses to leave.
And there you have it, the 10 jingles that permanently live rent-free in my head. I know I’m forgetting more than a few (probably on purpose), but these are the heavy hitters.
Which ones get stuck in your head the most? Drop them in the comments. Maybe I’ll regret asking, but hey.. misery loves company.
