Deep fried Alligator

The beginning of Fall gets me reminiscing about summer fare I enjoyed during the year.  Stuck in my mind for some reason today, was some fried Alligator I ate at the historic "Linger Lodge" in Bradenton Florida during one of my last visits.



I must say it was awesome, and no.. It didn't taste like chicken.  (although the two look very similar when cooked).  I think I found my new white meat!

RETRO HUNT! My search for the classic 'Bic Clic' pen

I've been on the hunt lately for a decent writing pen to use at my job. I use a pen all day long and the current pens at my disposal just don't cut it. Here's what I require in a writing utensil.. DURABILITY. A pen that stands up to everyday use and abuse. DEPENDABILITY. Long lasting, with a point that writes clearly and nicely. FUNCTIONALITY. No removable cap. A pen that securely stays put in my front shirt pocket. AFFORDABILITY. Can I have it all at a decent price? I went to several stores and found absolutely nothing that fit the bill. I found a few pens that came close, but they had gel ink which I can't stand. Finally it struck me. My go-to pen for decades was the Bic Clic. However, I hadn't used or seen one for sale in at least 15 years. I knew these old pens would be perfect for my needs at home, work, etc., so my hunt began. saying goodbye to the best car I've ever owned up to this point. My 2009 Ford Focus

I’ve owned a lot of cars in my life and I mean a lot. Just about every make and model you can imagine. Some were terrible, some were great, and a few were somewhere in between. But what’s surprising, if not a little shocking, is that the best car I ever owned is the one I just parted ways with: a 2009 Ford Focus. Now, I’ve owned Fords before that were downright awful. I’ve also owned some that were exceptional. But this particular Focus stands alone as the most reliable car I’ve ever had. It crossed the 200,000-mile mark without breaking a sweat. Mechanically, the list of things I had to do to it over the years was remarkably short. Aside from routine maintenance such as oil changes, brakes, batteries, tires, a serpentine belt, spark plugs, ignition coils, fuel injectors, and a thermostat, there were only two real fixes.  I  replaced a rear hub when it started to whine, and early on I swapped out a motor mount.
